UKRAINIAN COUNTERINTELLIGENCE OPERATION FOILS RUSSIAN ASSASSINATION PLOT

Michael MacKay, Radio Lemberg, 31.05.2018

Daria Kazemirova was not saved. The 15 year old girl was killed by Putin on May 28, when Russia’s invasion army in occupied Horlivka bombarded the village of Zalizne and a mortar shell exploded beside her in an open yard. The Western press did not report this news because they will not report that Russia is invading Ukraine in Donbas.

Pavel Sheremet was not saved. The Ukrayinska Pravda journalist was killed by Putin on 20 July 2016, when Russian assassins detonated a bomb in his car in Kyiv. The Western press reported this as a story about the inadequacies of the criminal justice system in Ukraine in solving the crime. They did not report this as a story about Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Amina Okuyeva was not saved. The police lieutenant was killed by Putin on 30 October 2017, when Russian assassins shot her dead on a second attempt just outside Kyiv. The Western press did not report that she was a soldier in volunteer battalions fighting Russian invaders of Ukraine in Donbas. They reported that she was the wife of a Chechen man, Adam Osmayev, who they described as an ‘anti-Putin plotter.’

Oleksandr Kharaberiush was not saved. The counterintelligence officer of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was killed by Putin on 31 March 2017, when Russian assassins exploded a bomb in his car in Mariupol. The Western press did not report that Mariupol is 20 kilometres from the battlefront where Russia is invading Ukraine because they will not report that Russia is invading Ukraine in Donbas.

Arkady Babchenko was saved. The ATR (Ukraine's Crimean Tatar TV) journalist was rescued from an assassination plot engineered by Putin. At the end of a two month operation, the SBU staged his murder on May 30 and proceeded to shut down the Russian security services-led assassination plot. The Western press did not spend much time expressing gratitude for the saved life of their colleague, but criticized Ukrainian authorities for having deceived the press in the counterintelligence operation.

Russia is invading Ukraine, and has been since 20 February 2014. Thousands are dead because Russia does not abide by the rules of international order or the principles that guide Western civilization. The Western press has failed to report the truth of events and amplifies Russian propaganda instead. Even after it has been exclusively established that Russia’s armed forces shot down Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 on 17 July 2014, the Western press still prints the phrase “pro-Russian separatists” or “pro-Russian rebels.”

Because the Western press is not doing its job and reporting the truth of events about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it has been suborned by Russia’s security services to become an arm of Russia’s information warfare against the West. Kremlin-compromised, Moscow-bureaux Western journalists are fed an endless stream of “Putin says” or “Lavrov says” stories. Russia’s invasion of Europe in Ukraine is reported from the Moscow, from the aggressor’s side, and is not reported as an invasion at all. Kyiv, the defender’s side, is ignored.

Russia is at war with Ukraine, at war with Europe, and at war with the West. Russia fights dirty. Ukraine is the sole fighting defender of Western civilization against Muscovy barbarism. Ukraine must use every means, fair or foul, to win in the war for national salvation that has been thrust upon it by aggressor Russia. Putin and Lavrov lie about everything, all the time, but the Western press does not do its job and expose their lies. That Ukrainian authorities lied that Arkady Babchenko had been murdered was believed to be a necessary deceit in the prosecution of the war. It is disproportionate for the Western press to ‘deplore’ having been lied to once, to save the life of one of their journalist colleagues, and not call out the incessant lying of Putin and Lavrov, and the massive campaign of disinformation coming from the Kremlin since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Advice to the Western press: Stop calling Russian soldiers ‘pro-Russian separatists’; stop calling people who write and speak about the consequences of Russian aggression ‘anti-Putin critics’; stop calling Russia’s invasion of Ukraine the ‘crisis in Ukraine.’ Learn about the truth of events in Ukrainian Crimea and Ukrainian Donbas and then report it honestly. Give up Russo-centrism and describe Ukraine to the world as it really is, not as Moscow wants the world to see it.

Ukraine fights alone, to try to defend us from Russia. Without help, Ukraine is not yet strong enough to force the Russian army to leave Ukrainian territory, and it was not able to save Daria Kazemirova and thousands of other civilians killed by Putin’s War against and in Ukraine. Without help, Ukraine does not have all the resources it needs to neutralize every one of Putin’s assassination squads, and so it was not able to save Pavel Sheremet, or Amina Okuyeva or Oleksandr Kharaberiush and dozens of others assassinated by Putin around the world. But even without help, Ukraine was able to pull off an effective counterintelligence operation and save the life of Arkady Babchenko.

Well done to the Security Service of Ukraine and the resilient Ukrainian people. Congratulations to Arkady Babchenko. Shame on the Western press for their failure to report Russia’s war on Ukraine. To perdition with Russia, its invasion of Europe in Crimea and Donbas, and its world-destroying nihilism.
